Spirit of Gold Coast Whale Watching has announced the winner of the city's first Young Whale Warrior competition.
Budding environmentalist Bobby Walls of Mudgeeraba is set to take his passion for the majestic marine mammals to new depths after being crowned the inaugural winner from an impressive pool of entries by students at primary schools all across the Gold Coast.

Bobby Walls - The Winner of The Young Whale Warrior Competition Spirit asked inspired young guardians to submit a drawn, written, or video entry showing how passionate they are about helping whales. Our competition winner, Bobby, demonstrated his passion for whales and all wildlife with an outstanding video entry.
Bobby said “I am so excited to be the Gold Coast’s first Young Whale Warrior, I love both land and marine life which is why I entered.”
Zara King with The Young Whale Warrior Winner Bobby Walls The Young Whale Warrior competition was launched to help inspire younger generations to engage in environmental activities and become aware of the impact we have on our oceans. From the feedback the competition has received, it looks like future marine biologists and environmental enthusiasts are well on their way to creating a kinder and cleaner world.

Bobby said “I am so excited to be the Gold Coast’s first Young Whale Warrior, I love both land and marine life which is why I entered.”
“Whales are one of my favourite animals and I’m super passionate about making sure we protect them, which I think starts on land & making sure we are recycling & caring for the environment” ~ The Clover Hill State School student said. “I can’t wait to learn more from Zara about humpback whales and hopefully spot Migaloo on his journey back to Antarctica.” ~ Bobby Walls

As the Young Whale Warrior, 10-year-old Bobby got to spend the ultimate day out on the Spirit of Gold Coast Whale Watching boat with on-board marine biologist Zara King, who shared expert insight into the enigmatic and often threatened ocean creatures as they traverse Australia’s incredible humpback highway.
